From College to the Present
By Marc DiFrancia December 13, 2009
A
starter for nearly her entire four-year college career, Solo’s numbers were
sensational from the minute she stepped onto Washington’s campus to the time
she graduated; here are the stats:
Freshman Year 1999 – 12 Games/1095 Minutes/77 Saves/20
Goals/1.64 GAA/3 SO
Sophomore Year 2000 – 21 Games/1768 Minutes/95 Saves/15
Goals/0.76 GAA/6 SO
Junior Year 2001 – 17
Games/1590 Minutes/77 Saves/12 Goals/0.68 GAA/7 SO
Senior Year 2002 – 18 Games/1632 Minutes/76 Saves/22
Goals/1.21 GAA/2 SO
Now
let’s compare her college stats to her 2009 campaign with the Athletica:
17 Games/1530
Minutes/84 Saves/14 Goals/0.82 GAA/8 SO
As
you can see, Solo’s best year in college arguably was her junior year during
which she allowed only 12 goals over 17 games, representing her lowest GAA and
including 7 shutouts. These
numbers are remarkably similar to her 2009 stat line with the Athletica. Both years, she started 17 games,
played 1500+ minutes, and posted similar saves, goals, GAA and shutouts.
